EVERY BODY WELCOME AT UNITED WE SWEAT
Across Greater Lorain County, many residents want to live healthier lives but barriers like transportation, cost, and limited access to local programs can make it difficult to get started or stay consistent. Through United We Sweat, United Way of Greater Lorain County is expanding access to free health and wellness opportunities so that every resident has the chance to move more, learn more, and feel better.
United We Sweat offers a growing network of free classes throughout the county, including yoga, strength training, cardio, and dance, alongside health education opportunities focused on nutrition, medication safety, cancer prevention, and other topics that support long-term well-being. These programs are designed to meet people where they are, whether they are trying something new for the first time or building on an existing routine.
Access remains one of the most significant barriers to healthy living. Even when opportunities exist nearby, the cost of a gym membership or structured program can prevent participation. United We Sweat addresses this gap by ensuring classes remain free and welcoming to all participants. The initiative is guided by a simple belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to take part in activities that support their health, and every body should feel welcome to move.
United We Sweat is also strengthening the local wellness workforce through a close partnership with Lorain County Community College. Through this collaboration, United Way helps cover certification costs for fitness instructors who agree to teach a set number of classes in high-priority neighborhoods. This approach not only expands access to programming but also builds local capacity and ensures classes are available in the communities where they are needed most.
Community input plays an important role in shaping the program. Classes are offered throughout the week at a variety of times, making it easier for residents to participate in ways that fit their schedules and routines. As participation continues to grow, United We Sweat is also preparing to expand its reach even further through upcoming virtual routines creating new opportunities for residents to stay active from home.
Together, these efforts are helping ensure that health and wellness opportunities are not limited by cost, location, or schedule. To explore upcoming classes and learn more, visit unitedwesweat.org and view the calendar of in-person opportunities available across Greater Lorain County.
