On a warm September evening in downtown Lorain, the FireFish Festival lit up Broadway with art, music, and imagination. At United Way of Greater Lorain County, we were proud to be hosting the VIP Reception that brought together community leaders, partners, and friends to celebrate.

The reception was more than a gathering before the festival. It was a chance to  truly connect with one another as guests mingled over local bites and sips while they shared stories, built relationships, and soaked in the spirit of the evening. The atmosphere bubbled with excitement as the community prepared for the iconic burning of the FireFish.

Adding to the fun were our very own “celebrity bartenders,” Kelsey and Caitlin, who kept the glasses full and the energy high. Their playful presence behind the bar reminded everyone that philanthropy and joy can go hand in hand. The night wasn’t just about art on display outside but about the art of community inside where laughter, conversation, and generosity created a canvas all their own.

Hosting this reception allowed us to thank the partners and supporters who make our work possible while also inviting them to experience the creativity that defines Lorain County. It was a perfect reflection of who we are: serious about impact but never forgetting the joy of coming together.

As the evening flowed into the festival, our guests stepped out into the streets carrying the same energy we felt inside: inspired, connected, and proud to be part of a community that knows how to celebrate creativity while working toward collective change. At United Way, we believe United is the Way. And nights like this prove that when people gather with purpose and joy, incredible things happen.
