Comedy After Dark: Stand Up for Our Community

BRINGING HOMETOWN COMEDY TO LORAIN WITH COMEDY AFTER DARK!

United Way of Greater Lorain County is excited to bring something new to the community with Comedy After Dark: Stand Up for Our Community, a night of laughter, local talent, and impact happening Saturday, January 24 at American Legion Post 30, located at 1112 W. Erie Avenue in Lorain.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with music, and the show kicks off at 8:00 p.m. The evening will feature a live DJ and a lineup of comedians led by Lorain native Ramon Rivas II, joined by Stephanie Ginese, TJ Maclin, and DJ Cassius G. With two hometown comedians on the bill, Comedy After Dark is equal parts comedy show and community homecoming.

Rivas is a nationally recognized stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and music producer known for his laid-back, storytelling style inspired by his working-class upbringing in Lorain. He’s been featured on Comedy Central, SiriusXM comedy stations, and at comedy festivals across the country. After hosting an outdoor comedy series in Lorain during the summers of 2020 and 2021, Rivas was eager to return home for a show that gives back.

Joining him is Stephanie Ginese, a stand-up comedian, poet, and author whose debut poetry collection, Unto Dogs, was released in 2022. TJ Maclin—an award-winning Ohio-based musician, producer, and comedian also known as Peachcurls—rounds out the comedy lineup. Ginese and Maclin also cohost the Con Tú Variety Show and podcast.

General admission tickets are $30 and can be purchased directly on our website. Every ticket sold supports United Community Assistance Network (UCAN), United Way’s emergency financial assistance collaborative helping low-income working families across Lorain County. Thanks to the generosity of American Legion Post 30, proceeds from the event will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $2,000.
