Every community has those rare people who seem to pour light into every room they enter. For us, that person is Summer. And now it’s official – Lorain County agrees she’s the Best Volunteer in Lorain County.

It’s hard to capture the full scope of Summer’s impact in a single title. She doesn’t just volunteer her time; she gives her whole heart. Whether sorting supplies, lending a hand at events, or stepping in wherever the need is greatest, Summer shows up. Not once, not occasionally, but consistently, with a spirit that inspires everyone around her.

Her commitment isn’t about recognition. What drives Summer is a deep belief that her neighbors deserve support, dignity, and opportunity – and she’s willing to do the work to make that happen. That means lifting boxes, organizing donations, welcoming new volunteers, or simply offering a word of encouragement to someone who needs it most.

For United Way of Greater Lorain County, Summer has become more than a volunteer. She’s a cornerstone of what it means to be united. She models the truth that real change takes place when people don’t wait to be asked and they step forward, roll up their sleeves, and get involved.

The Best of Lorain County award is a celebration of Summer, but it’s also a reflection of what’s possible when passion meets purpose. Her story reminds us that volunteering isn’t about hours logged, but lives touched. It’s about building community, one small action at a time, until those actions add up to something transformative.

We are deeply grateful for Summer’s service, leadership, and heart. She represents the very best of Lorain County, and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate her as the Best Volunteer.

Summer proves, every day, that United is the Way.
