Week of Caring Volunteers Provide 200+ Hours of Service

Our 26th annual Week of Caring brought together over 60 community and business members - including groups from Brookside High School, the Just Energy Foundation, Macy's Systems and Technology, the Natural Stone Institute, Neighborhood Alliance and PolyOne Corporation - for a September week full of volunteer opportunities in support of our collaborative work.

These volunteers provided more than 200 hours of service which included: constructing a sustainable cafeteria garden for Brookside High School by building benches, garden boxes, and a whiteboard, in addition to planting a variety of vegetables | re-mulching the playground, repairing benches, rebuilding picnic tables, and resurfacing the pavilion structure at General Johnnie Wilson Park in Lorain | installing and organizing a food pantry at the Oberlin Senior Enrichment Center | sorting, bagging, and distributing over 1,000 lbs of food at El Centro de Servicios Sociales in Lorain
