The Third Annual Spellebrate Lorain County Raises Funds for Volunteering

The third annual Spellebrate Lorain County: A Night At The Bee, took place at the Emerald Event Center on Thursday, June 21st and the evening was presented by Queen Bee sponsor Northwest Bank. 16 teams competed against each other in a fun, informal and non-traditional spelling bee from the official Scripps Spelling Bee List, for a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. The night featured a silent auction, sideboard raffles and a "Honey Pot" 50/50 raffle for spectators.

The championship trophy went to “The Great Gats-Bees” from the Lorain Public Library, with the prize money going to the library foundation. The fundraiser was able to raise nearly $14,000 to support our Lorain County Volunteer Connection initiative with HandsOn Northeast Ohio.

Lorain County Volunteer Connection offers an easy and accessible way to volunteer at projects throughout the county. Learn more on volunteering and other ways to get involved here
