Because of Christine Matusik-Plas’ efforts, United Way of Greater Lorain County has more than 150 collaborative partners. 

PolyOne Volunteers at Horizon Educational Center to Get More Kids Ready in our Community

A small group of volunteers from PolyOne SEM Manufacturing team spent a portion of their morning at Horizon Education Center in Elyria on Monday, July 22. The team labeled over 5,000 take-home & multicultural focused books and crafted 50 fine-motor lacing cards. The lacing cards will be used in our literacy kits, that are given to pre-k students in Lorain, Elyria, and Oberlin. 
 
 

OberlinKids Offers Digital Option to Families Looking to Complete Developmental Screenings

As part of their On Track for Kindergarten program, OberlinKids offers annual screenings to any child between ages birth to 5-years-old that resides in the Oberlin City School District. The developmental, social and emotional, play-based screenings are now able to be completed online by the child's parent or guardian, or with the OberlinKids Coordinator at either the Oberlin Public Library or the OberlinKids office (23 Eric Nord Way, Suite 9 in Oberlin). 

Trunk-Or-Treat Offers Fun & Free Resources to Families

Over 200 local families celebrated Halloween in style at the first annual Rising Titans 'Trunk-Or-Treat' event on Saturday, October 27th at El Centro de Servicios Sociales in Lorain. Kids dressed in their holiday best were able to trick-or-treat and collect candy by stopping at automotive stations representing a handful of local organizations, including United Way of Greater Lorian County, Lorain County Public Health and the Lorain Public Library System.
