Our collaborative efforts in South Elyria have recently expanded from our previous work to focus on a broader geographic area to support middle school students with services both inside and outside of the school environment.
The collaborative is now named South Side Pride and is being led by Horizon Education Centers. Through the lead agency transition periods, the programming has continued. In the last year, the collaborative partners have implemented several initiatives including weekly lunch buddies as well as an after-school program at Franklin Elementary, a "Walk to School" event for Franklin Elementary students, and weekly STEM programming at the South Branch Library. In turn, discipline referrals for program participants have dropped 65% compared to the last year.
