Advice from THRIVE! Dietitian Changes Health of Local Resident

Last summer, Lise Day stopped by the THRIVE! table at United Way of Greater Lorain County's annual Campaign Kickoff. THRIVE! was hosting a mock TV game show, patterned after “Wheel of Fortune,” where participants would spin a wheel and had to answer questions related to health, fitness or nutrition.   
Lise answered two questions correctly and won the exciting prize of a dietary consultation, valued at $100, with THRIVE! Dietitian Libby Showalter.

United Way Hosts Chamber After Hours

United Way of Greater Lorain County hosted the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce business after hours networking night recently in the Center for Community Transformation.  

The Lorain County Chamber of Commerce hosts monthly networking nights throughout the county. In May, United Way of Greater Lorain County welcomed over 70 people representing local companies and organizations to their downtown Lorain offices. 

United Way Hosts Game Night for Loyal Donors and Workplace Champions

United Way of Greater Lorain County recently hosted a game night for their loyal donors and workplace champions in the Ridge Tool Company Community Engagement Space. 

Over 20 loyal donors and workplace champions attended game night for a lighthearted evening of board games, appetizers, and drinks. Guests enjoyed popular games such as Apples to Apples, and 5 Second Rule, as well as some more obscure ones like Pass the Pigs. 

Record-Breaking Numbers of Tax Returns Filed at Free Tax Prep Super Saturdays

Hundreds of tax returns have been filed at the Lorain County Free Tax Prep Coalition's Super Saturday events, held each Saturday in February from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elyria Public Library West River Branch. These dates, sponsored by PNC Bank and Chemical Bank, occur in addition to scheduled, ongoing tax appointments and include a larger number of volunteers to handle first come, first served, walk-in needs.

United Way of Greater Lorain County once again earned the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing in-depth metrics that highlight progress United Way of Greater Lorain County is making toward its mission, the local agency keeps its place in the top one percent of the more than 1.8 million charities that are rated by GuideStar.
